Service Description

Media Makers Lab: A Hands-On Podcast Production Experience is a four-hour interactive experience designed to introduce pre-teens, teens and young adults to the world of digital media, while giving them the opportunity to create something of their own. We begin with the world they already know: social media, AI and the internet. Participants learn about online safety, digital footprints, AI-generated content, media literacy and why everything they see online isn't necessarily real. We also introduce them to the many careers that exist behind the content they consume every day, because working in social media doesn't have to mean becoming an influencer. Then, we turn the learning into action. Participants become an actual production crew and work together to create a podcast from beginning to end. Each person takes on a real role, such as producer, director, writer, host, camera operator, lighting crew, set decorator or editor. They'll plan the show, prepare the set, set up equipment, rehearse, problem-solve as a team and ultimately record their own podcast. Our team provides the instruction, professional equipment and guidance, but the young people are responsible for bringing the production to life. After recording, participants enjoy a light lunch (pizza and soft drinks) while we move into post-production. We wrap the experience with a mini premiere where they get to watch what they created together and celebrate their work. Along the way, they're developing communication, teamwork, leadership, creative problem-solving and technical skills while getting hands-on exposure to career paths they may not have known existed. Perfect for schools, nonprofits, mentorship programs, camps, after-school programs and youth organizations looking for an experience that's educational, interactive and actually fun. The four-hour experience accommodates up to 25 participants and includes instruction, facilitation, professional podcast and production equipment, hands-on production, post-production, mini premiere, and lunch. Bring Media Makers Lab to your group and let your young people go from consuming the content to becoming the team behind it.
