Across the African Diaspora, bartering was a cornerstone of community life. People traded crops, crafts, knowledge, and labor to support one another, circulate wealth locally, and build collective strength... so why did we stop?

Today, we’ve gotten so use to money changing hands, not value changing hands. Even when we want to barter, we may not know where to start or who’s open to it.
